The 2022 Bootleg Port reflects the independent spirit that has shaped St. Amant Winery from the very beginning. Crafted from six traditional Portuguese varieties, including Touriga Nacional, Tinta Cão, and Tinta Roriz, this wine shows a deep ruby color with aromas of crushed berries and dark cherry. The palate is layered with ripe fruit, subtle spice, and a smooth finish with a gentle touch of nuttiness.
The story of St. Amant began in 1979 when Tim and Barbara Spencer founded the winery in Amador County before moving to Lodi’s historic Delta region. With a focus on honest, place driven wines, Tim developed a passion for Portuguese grapes and produced his first vintage Port in 1981. That early lot was made from reclaimed wine, giving rise to the name Bootleg Port.
More than forty years later, St. Amant remains family owned and committed to craftsmanship. The 2022 vintage continues that tradition, offering a rich and expressive Port made to be enjoyed and shared.
