The 2022 Cinsault comes from The Lucas Winery, a family run estate in Lodi’s Mokelumne River AVA known for organic farming and site focused wines. Founded in 1978 by David Lucas and Heather Pyle Lucas, the winery has long been dedicated to expressing the character of Lodi through careful vineyard stewardship and thoughtful winemaking.
Sourced from Gordon Sprague’s young vineyard on Lodi’s eastern edge, this vintage followed one of the hottest summers on record. The wine was aged twelve months in barrel and bottled in January 2024, with only 146 cases produced.
Aromas of ripe strawberry and cherry are layered with gentle spice. The palate is light bodied and lively, supported by soft tannins and bright acidity that carry through a clean, refreshing finish. Traditionally used as a blending grape in Southern France, Cinsault stands confidently on its own here, offering purity, lift, and effortless drinkability.
This is a versatile red that pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, grilled vegetables, and holiday meals, inviting another pour long after the first glass.
